It is strictly advised for Indian pilgrims not to wear saris during this yatra. Bring any things such as medicine, cosmetic items and personal toiletries from home because these are not readily available or near to the highway. Also, you should consider taking along a small first-aid kit. Another handy tool is a route map, to know where you are going and have been each day.

Down sleeping bag, raincoat or windbreaker; thermal underwear; jackets – preferably thin, warm trousers and woolen shirts cotton will suffice also easy- to clean Kakhi pants are good, sweaters – warming but not hot ones, woollen gloves if possible, leather would kill your hands in Sahara sun a big handkerchief
Bring with you
You may bring snacks along the way, such as chocolates, dry fruits, toffees, glucose, namkeen, etc. Strong water bottles and water purifying tablets, Diamox tablets, a personal medical kit (for high altitude), sunglasses (to protect your eyes from UV, which is especially strong at high altitudes), sun block or sun screen lotion, wet tissues (fresh ones are excellent for wiping off the dust), a clothesline or clips, needle and thread, body spray (handy for smelly boots or feet and a round of spray in the toilet tent), toilet paper, a torch, and spare batteries, daypack (small shoulder bag), camera and films, binocular.
Health
One of the toughest high-altitude road journeys on earth. To begin with, you must be physically fit—no doubt about it. Patients suffering from asthma and heart problems usually have difficulty in adapting to high altitudes. In your interests, the most important is that you were studied by doctor to be advised of state of your health and how well you can go through hardships while staying for days in “no road” conditions”, extreme cold, dusty environment when trekking up on an altitude as high as 19500 feet during Parikrama etc.
Altitude Sickness
As you move across areas with high terrain, there are likely going to be symptoms of altitude sickness such as headaches, loss of appetite and nausea until your body acclimatizes itself to the elevation. It can be a couple of days or more for an individual. This is the sole reason why we have compulsory to spend two nights at Mansarovar before venturing into higher altitudes. Drink water, relax and avoid exercise. Avoid drinking alcohol or smoking before the tour and during it.
Currency
1 yuan is the unit of Chinese money. In Kerung, one can exchange money in the Bank of China.
