Gujarat Jain Tour Package itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad & Ahmedabad Jain Temple Tour
On the first day of the tour, you will arrive at the Ahmedabad airport or railway station. From there, our tour operator will receive you and take you to your pre-booked hotel. After checking in, we will visit the Hutheesing Jain Temple, one of the most magnificent Jain temples of Gujarat. It was constructed in 1848 AD and was named after a wealthy merchant Seth Hutheesing. The temple was built in honor of the revered Dharmanath, the 15th Tirthankara of the Jains, and it took nearly 10 Lakhs to construct this extravagantly adorned Jain temple. After the temple visit, you will return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Ahmedabad – Mahudi – Vadnagar – Tarang Hill
After breakfast, we will set out for a day-long tour and visit some of the most prominent Jain temples of Gujarat. First, we will visit Ghantakarna Mahavir Temple at Mahudi, which was established in 1923 AD and stands beside River Madhumati. Next, we will visit Vadnagar, a historical city of Gujarat with innumerable vestiges of the rich, historic past. From Vadnagar, we will undertake an excursion to the famed Taranga Hills consisting of 14 richly carved Shwetambar Jain Temples and 5 Digambara Jain temples. Among these, Ajitnath Jain Temple is the most renowned.
After visiting these temples at Taranga Hills, we will proceed to two other significant pilgrimage centers, i.e. Kumbhariyaji and Shamlaji. Kumbhariyaji consists of a cluster of Jain temples, all intricately carved and dating back to an era between 1034AD-1162AD, while Shamlaji is a Lord Krishna shrine located on the border between the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan. After spending the entire day visiting these temples, we will return to Ahmedabad for an overnight stay.
Day 3: Ahmedabad – Bhavnagar
Next day we will depart for Bhavnagar, a culturally vibrant city in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat. On reaching Bhavnagar, we will check in at the hotel and later move on for the Bhavnagar city sightseeing. The places we visit during the sightseeing tour are Shri Adishwar Temple, Khodiyar Mandir, Aksharwadi Temple, Takhteshwar temple, and Gandhi Smriti memorial. Post sightseeing, we will return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Bhavnagar – Palitana
On the fourth day, we will hit the road for Palitana. Palitana is well known for its beautiful Jain temples scattered all across the city. However, the highest concentration of Jain Temples at Palitana occurs atop the Shatrunjaya hills, one of the most important pilgrimage destinations for the followers of Jainism. On reaching Palitana, we will check into the pre-booked hotel and later set out to ascend the Shatrunjaya hills for the purpose of visiting the most revered and magnificently carved Jain temples of Palitana. After darshan, we will return to the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 5: Palitana - Gondal - Somnath
We begin our day by driving to Somnath from Palitana, with a short stop at Gondal. Gondal is a beautiful town known for its exquisite architecture and the Bhuvaneshwari Ayurvedic library. Our first stop is at the Swaminarayan temple, built in 1934 under the initiative of Shastriji Maharaj. This majestic temple is an architectural marvel and a must-visit for anyone traveling to Gondal.
Next, we visit the Bhuvaneshwari Ayurvedic library, where we witness the production procedure of many Ayurvedic medicines. Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical system that focuses on holistic healing using natural remedies. At the library, we get to educate ourselves in the genre of Ayurvedic medicines, their benefits, and how they can improve our overall health and wellbeing.
After the sightseeing in Gondal, we head straight to Somnath, one of the most revered places in Gujarat. Upon reaching, we check into the hotel and later set out to pay a visit to the Jyotirlingam shore temple of Lord Somnath, who is none other than Lord Shiva. This temple is a significant religious destination for Hindus and is believed to have been rebuilt many times due to invasions and destruction.
Day 6: Somnath - Dwarka
On day 6, we set out for Dwarka, one of the seven most ancient religious cities in India. It is believed to be the home of Lord Krishna, and the Dwarkadhish temple is a famous pilgrim destination for Hindus. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna and is known as the 'King of Dwarka'. The temple is a remarkable piece of architecture and is believed to have been built by Lord Krishna's grandson.
After paying our respects at the Dwarkadhish temple, we return to the hotel for an overnight stay. Dwarka is also known for its beautiful beaches, and if time permits, we can take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the serene surroundings.
Day 7: Dwarka – Ahmedabad
After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and start our journey back to Ahmedabad. On the way, we make a stop at the famous Rukmini Temple, dedicated to the consort of Lord Krishna. The temple is known for its beautiful architecture and intricate carvings.
Upon reaching Ahmedabad, we check into the hotel and spend the remaining day at leisure. You can explore the city on your own, indulge in some shopping or relax at the hotel. Overnight stay at Ahmedabad.
Day 8: Departure from Ahmedabad
This is the last day of your tour. After breakfast, we check out from the hotel and transfer you to the Ahmedabad airport or railway station for your onward journey.
