With an abundance of trekking and hiking trails, India has always been an unfailing, undying hope to every kind of traveler. Be it – a seasoned traveler who suddenly wishes to accomplish something greater and meaningful in life, or – an aspiring mountaineer who picks up expeditions in an attempt to train themself hard for a journey of relatively higher altitude. And if the statistics can be trusted then every year, India successfully attracts thousands of ambitious climbers from every corner of the world for its great expeditions (from the list of six-thousanders, seven-thousanders, or eight-thousanders), lined up in the Himalayan Region.
But, today, we will talk about the seven-thousanders that are gorgeously perched atop the Himalayan Region of India. However, first, you should know – what are seven-thousanders anyway? The seven-thousanders are the mountains that stand at an altitude higher than 7,000 meters above sea level and have long been regarded as some of the toughest peaks in the world. There are at least seven desolate and relatively virgin peaks in India that have about 7000+ of altitude. And recently, the Indian Mountaineering Foundation has also started to encourage climb on such summits, and sometimes, they also do organize expeditions for a group of experienced mountaineers.
For climbing such heights, you may need to have some prior technical mountaineering knowledge but it is generally taught during the briefing session of your climb by the travel company. Only the knowledge of how to handle ropes, jumars, ice axes, crampons, gaiters, etc. – will be enough to partake in such climbs.
Our experienced team of Shikhar Travels has been incorporating to the terms of IMF for nearly three to four years and has been carrying out such expeditions for many aspiring mountaineers. Moreover, we also do encourage our travelers to follow the rules and advisory set forth by IMF about making the climbing journey more environment-friendly and zero-waste defining.
