Day 01: Arrive Delhi
Welcome to India- a country where hospitality is a way of life ; to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. You will be received at the airport in a traditional manner with garlands and proceed to your hotel. Morning after a relaxed breakfast: Proceed for a guided tour of New Delhi covering Rashtrapati Bhawan (is the official residence of the President of India. Formerly the residence of the Viceroy of India, it has a magnificent view of the Rajpath and symmetrical North and South block Govt offices), India Gate (is a majestic high arch,42 meters high, built as a memorial to the Indian Soldiers killed in world war 1) and The Qutab Minar (The 72.5m high tower dates back to the 13th century and is one of the greatest bequests of the Islamic culture). Afternoon, we will take you for a Heritage Tour through the narrow lanes of Old Delhi. Your leader would be your guide who would unfold the colorful history of Old Delhi which goes back thousands of years. Visit Chandani Chowk---Silver Square (Once the center of Delhi), to the various places of interest- just as the Royal Mughals would have done centuries ago. To name a few are Maulana Azad Tomb, Jama Masjid- India ’s largest mosque, Dariba Kalan (The Silver Bazaar), Kinari Bazaar, Paranthawalla Gali... You will also visit The Red Fort (Delhi's most magnificent monument was built by Emperor Shah Jehan.Some of the buildings it encloses are Diwani-am,Diwani-Khas, Rang Mahal,The Pearl Mosque etc.) and Raj Ghat ( Set in the midst of deep green lawns, Rajghat is the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated. A memorial to the father of the nation, Rajghat is a simple square platform with a black memorial stone with "Hey Ram" inscribed on it. "Hey Ram" were the last words uttered by the Mahatma before collapsing after being shot at). Enjoy Rickshaw Ride at Old Delhi area. Later return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 02: Delhi - Agra
Post breakfast checkout and drive down to Agra (Agra was once the capital of the Mughal empire and even today it seems to linger in the past. Not surprising, for the Mughal emperors with their passion for building, endowed the city with some of the finest structures in the world. It is very easy to slip away here through the centuries into the grandeur and intrigues of the Mughal court. Agra is an old city and it is said that its name was derived from Agrabana, a forest that’s finds mention in the epic. In more recent times Agra came into prominence when Sikandar Lodi made it his capital city in 1501. The Lodi rule was to end very soon and Agra passed into the possession of the Mughals. It was during the time of the third emperor Akbar that Agra came into its own). Arrive Agra in the afternoon and check-in at your hotel. Relax by the poolside/courtyard upon arrival. While you enjoy your Welcome Drink, the room keys will be handed over to you. Later proceed to you will proceed to Taj Mahal to enjoy its Sunset View. (Taj Mahal is the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage. Defined as "A Tear on the Face of Eternity", this white-splendored tomb was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his favourite wife, Arjumand Banu Begum, better known as Mumtaz Mahal ("Chosen of the Palace"). The unique Mughal style architecture combines elements & styles of Persian, Central Asian, and Islamic architecture. Most striking are the black and white chessboard marble floor, the four tall minarets (40 m high) at the corners of the structure, and the majestic grand dome in the middle. On closer inspection, the lettering of the Holy Quran verses around the archways appear to be uniform. The lettering spacing and density has been customized to give this impression to the viewer. The impressive pietra dura artwork includes geometric elements & style, plants & flowers, which are common in Islamic architecture). Later return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 03: Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur
After breakfast check-out and proceed to Agra Fort ( Near the gardens of the Taj Mahal stands the important 16th-century Mughal monument known as the Red Fort of Agra. More often than not, the Agra Fort is overshadowed by the pristine beauty of the Taj, but for those looking for something beyond romance, the Agra Fort is worth seeing. Akbar, the greatest empire-builder of the Mughals, commissioned the Agra Fort in 1565, and his grandson Shah Jahan, pulled down many of the original buildings and replaced them with marble ones, while Aurangzeb added the ramparts. Situated on the bank of river Yamuna, the Agra Fort today, stands as a citadel of the past that has witnessed centuries slip by. Built in red stone, the Agra fort stretches almost two kilometers on the bank of the Yamuna. A huge wall that stands 69 ft in height encircles the crescent shaped fort). Your sightseeing of Agra Fort will followed by a drive to Jaipur (Jaipur was born when Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, a Kacchawa Rajput decided to build a royal city that would serve as the capital of his kingdom in Amber. The Mughals bestowed Jai Singh with the title of Sawai that means 'the one who knows all'. Jaipur was the first city in Rajasthan that acknowledged Mughal presence and struck a political alliance with them. Today, the city of Jaipur is the prime example of the culture and tradition of the Rajputana Empire. Being the capital of Rajasthan, the city is mirror to everything that Rajasthan signifies, be its culture, tradition, society, and, most important, the people). En route visit Fatehpur Sikri (40 kms west of Agra, is built a city predominantly in Red Sandstone and is called Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri was built by the Great Mughal Emperor Akbar during 1570 and 1585. It is one of the finest examples of the culmination of Hindu and Muslim architecture. Fatehpur Sikri Mosque is said to be a copy of the mosque in Mecca and has designs, derived from the Persian & Hindu architecture). Upon arrival, check-in at your Hotel. Day 04: Jaipur
Morning after a relaxed breakfast proceed for a guided tour of Jaipur covering The City Palace (In the heart of the old city, it occupies a large area divided into a series if courtyards, gardens & buildings. It's a blend of Rajasthani & Mughal architecture. A portion of which has been converted into museum housing royal artifacts art, carpets, enamelware & old weapons),Jantar Mantar (or observatory built by the astronomer Maharaja Jai Singh. It is the largest and the best preserved of the 5 he built) and The Wind Palace (Hawa Mahal). Spend the evening at leisure. Guests may avail the In-House Facilities of the hotel on Direct Payment.
Day 05: Jaipur - Delhi - Depart
Morning after breakfast we will take you to a guided excursion to Amber Fort (The classical romantic Rajasthan Fort palace. It's construction was started by Man Singh I in 1592 and completed by his descendant Jai Singh I. Its rugged forbidding exterior belies an inner paradise where a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu styles finds its ultimate refinement. Painted scenes of hunting and war adorn the walls with precious stones and mirrors set into the plaster. In the foreground is the Maota Lake with breath taking reflections of the magnificent Amber Palace). At noon drive back to Delhi and drop at airport to board the flight for onward destination.
