Mt Friendship Peak Trek Expedition – Friendship Expedition In Manali – Shikhar travels
The Himalayas are the abode of many highest peaks of the world that are tough to scale but among them, there are few peaks that have been on the list of the customary expeditions for mountaineers.
Trekking or Expeditions has always been an attraction to many and The Great Himalayas is an abode of such wonderful journeys. There are many high peaks that are tough to scale but some of them can be experienced by beginners as well like Mt Friendship Peak Trek
At an altitude of 5289 m in Pir Panjal Range of Kullu Dist. Himachal Pradesh, Mount Friendship Peak climbing expedition is known for its mesmerizing 360 views of different Himalayan Ranges like Dhauladhar Range and Pir Panjal Range. Some peaks like Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, Indrasan, and Shitidhar are also visible during this expedition.
Shikhar Travels usually plan this expedition of Friendship peak Himachal Pradesh during February – March and October November. We are the only company that has the expertise for this winter expedition as we are fully equipped with all the amenities like tents, caterers, and most importantly satellite phones for emergencies during this expedition.
The Shikhar journey of 9 days and 8 nights for Mt Friendship Peak Manali starts from the terrain and forests of Solang Valley in Manali. You can reach Manali via bus or flight till Kullu & bus/taxi to Manali where your hotels will be booked by Shikhar Travels and then following day we’ll take the road to India’s longest tunnel, Atal Tunnel. Here our trek starts that passes through rocky trails, beautiful Alpine trees, along with rich flora and fauna of the Himalayas. There will be numerous small water streams through the whole trek as the famous Beas river gets its water sourced from many glaciers in this region. As the serene beauty of the surroundings increases, the difficulty level also increases. One needs to be acclimatized to the high altitude journey so we’ll have our first-night halt at Dhundi. Here few members of Team Shikhar had preset the tents & food so that this first-day climb doesn’t break you.
Next day we start our journey to first triumph of the trek, Bakkarthach (3050 m) which will have a breathtaking view of the snow-capped Himalayas. There will be 1-2 days of training & fun adventures here as our bodies need to be acclimatized for the final summit and some training for hard and unpredicted climbing. Bakkarthach base camp is actually a base camp for many mountain expeditions in the region like one for Beas Kund Trek. Till here the food and tents were completely organized by Team Shikhar Travels but now onwards everything has to be done on our own.
Another day starts and we’ll shift to next ABC camps with our essentials & mountaineering equipment that will be required to conquer the summit. This night will be of self-cooking and resting before Friendship Peak summit. Next day we’ll be a very early morning as we’ll be coming back down on the same day.
While we approach the snow beds and glaciers at the high altitude of this trek, the trial goes narrow and even lost sometimes. But this panorama view from the height of 5289m is a lifetime experience. After clicking pictures and enjoying the ultimate view of The Great Himalayas, the team will head back to ABC Camps, and if we have enough daylight and energy left we’ll come back to Bakkarthach Base Camp. After one night stays back to hotels in Manali.
Mt Friendship trekking expedition is definitely one of the most challenging but accessible destinations for mountaineers even if they are beginners. Many top mountaineering institutes of India or even of other countries instigate their new batches with this expedition. Many adventure lovers and mountaineers also enjoy skiing in this region in the month of February and March as snow settles and the weather also blessed with some sunny days.
