A Day to ‘Live’ Delhi – One Day Delhi Tour
Delhi, the capital of India, is one city that has welcomed each and everyone at some or the other point of their life. Though people in Delhi are busy beavers, but a day out of the hectic schedule is enough to actually live in Delhi.
This blog is all about where to go in Delhi if you have a day in hand:
Ek Din Dilli ko Jee ke to Dekhiye
Delhi being the second largest metropolitan city after Mumbai is the most expensive city of the country. Apart from the being one of the largest business hubs, Delhi is known to be a homeland for many historical buildings, monuments and governmental buildings that are worth seeing and that have added to the India’s cultural heritage. So here is how to make the most of the time in Delhi:
- Start with the Chandani Chowk: If you are a shopping freak then you are going to love this bazaar. Chandani Chowk has got everything! From clothes, footwear, eateries, electronic goods, books, bridal products, consumer goods whatever you can think you can find all of them in the narrow lanes of this market. Morning, when the market has just started, is the best time to stroll here because as the day passes the rush goes on increasing.
- Awe-inspiring Red Fort: Close by the Chandani Chowk bazaar is the most magnificent monument of old Delhi, the Red Fort which was built by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1639 and continued to be the main residence of the Mughal emperors for about 200 years. Important parts of the buildings are the Diwan-E-Aam, Diwan-E-Khas, the Pearl Mosque and the Rang Mahal that are worth seeing. The architecture of the Fort is amazingly beautiful and it is evident from it that the Science was much advanced even that time!
- Qutab Minar: The tallest brick Minaret in the world Qutab Minar stands 73 meters high which has made its place in the list as one of the UNESCO’s world heritage sites. Qutab Minar is surrounded by other monuments of historical significance like Iron Pillar of Delhi, Alai Darwaza, Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque, Tomb of Imam Zamin, Ala-ud-din’s Madrasa, Tomb of Iltutmish, Major Smith’s Cupola and Sanderson’s Sundial.
- Other places of National Importance: Some other places like the Rashrapati Bhavan which is the official residence of the Indian President, India Gate – a splendid 42m high gate that was built in the memory of the Indian Soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the World War 1 are some of the gems from the Indian architecture. Last but not the least is to visit Rajghat – place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.
At the End of the Day: You can put an end to the relaxing day with delectable meal at any of the restaurants in Delhi. Even the street food here is mouth-watering. So whenever your next holiday is, just call your gang and ‘live your city’ rather than just ‘live in the city’!
