Our journey to the royal land of Rajasthan aboard the Palace on Wheels train will commence from the capital city of the country, located at the heart at – Delhi.
The Palace on Wheels train itinerary has it all, plans of witnessing the vast wilderness of the Ranthambore National Park, the various grand palaces of Jaipur, the sparkling lakes of Udaipur, the romantic blue walls of Jodhpur and the majestic Taj Mahal.
This 8-day trip of a lifetime, aboard the most royally luxurious chariot to have been ever put on tracks has it all. We will journey through the infamous Golden Triangle of India of the best tourist destinations to satisfy the wanderlust of the most insatiable travelers!

Day 1: The journey begins at Delhi
Guests will be invited to the Safdarjung Railway Station at around 4 PM in the evening, wherein a traditional welcome will be offered. Your royal experience will commence from this very moment, as the attendants serve you with a welcome drink, complete your check-in formalities for the 8 days of fun and later escort you to your respective cabins.
Soon after the train will begin chugging on its way to Jaipur as you prepare for dinner at anyone of the two restaurants aboard the Palace on Wheels.
Day 2: Jaipur, Pink City
Early in the morning, we will reach the first destination of our itinerary at Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan also known as the Pink City. Breakfast will be served onboard the Palace on Wheels and then guests will be escorted to a local sightseeing tour once the train reaches the Jaipur Railway Station.
The main attractions we will cover in this tour of Jaipur will include a trip to the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, and then to the Amber Fort. Here guests can have their lunch and shop for souvenirs like gemstones, handicrafts, traditional clothing and jewellery.
After conclusion of the sightseeing tour of Jaipur, guests will be escorted to the local markets for shopping and by 6 PM we will get back to the train for high tea. Rest onboard and later enjoy a sumptuous dinner onboard the Palace on Wheels as the train chugs along.
Day 3: Sawai Madhopur – Chittorgarh
On the 3rd day of the journey, we will make our way to the famous Ranthambore National Park. The National Park is spread across a massive area of 1334 sq kilometers and attracts nature lovers, wildlife enthusiasts and photographers from around the world. Home to the famous Royal Bengal Tiger the park also hosts panthers, pythons, deers, and numerous winged beauties.
Later in the day, guests will be escorted to a local sightseeing of Chittorgarh including the infamous Chittorgarh Fort. The evening will have a magnificent high tea and Son-et-Lumiere at the Fort and then dinner will be served later onboard the train while you rest the Palace on Wheels will move towards Udaipur.
Day 4 Udaipur – City of Lakes
This is the fourth day of your trip to Rajasthan and you will be taken to the Udaipur by 8 AM in the morning. This magnificent city was established in the 15th Century by the Maharana Udai Singhand is renowned for its lakes and palaces.
The popular attractions in Udaipur include Niwas Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, Jagdish Temple, and many more. After the sightseeing tour, you will be served a lavish lunch at any of the famous luxury hotels of Udaipur with a view.
Later in the day enjoy tours of the City Palace and Crystal Gallery, indulge in a boat ride at the Lake Pichola and get back to the Palace on Wheels for dinner and overnight’s rest.
Day 5: The Golden City of Jaisalmer
This is the 5th day of your journey and your Palace on Wheels will chug into the Jaisalmer station. After an early breakfast, head on to a tour of the city, there are several well-known Havelis and forts to be seen here, including Salim Singh ji ki Haveli, Nathmaji ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli and more.
Day 6: Jodhpur – The Blue City
It will take us some time to reach the next destination on our list at Jodhpur. The train will roll in at Jodhpur slightly early to breakfast, which will be served onboard the Palace on Wheels.
Later, you can go on a tour of the city which will include amazing attractions of the infamous Rajasthani city like the Mehrangarh Fort, Jaswant Thada, Umaid Bhawan Palace and more. Then lunch will be served at the Palace hotel. Post lunch you will be guided to the local markets of Jodhpur for shopping. Dinner and overnight stay aboard the Palace on Wheels, after the end of an exciting day.
Day 7 Bharatpur and Agra
This is the day you get to witness the Taj Mahal, we proceed towards Agra that houses the UNESCO World Heritage site. But early in the morning we will stop to witness as much as 375 species of winged beauties aboard a rickshaw for an exciting ride through the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.
This tour of the sanctuary will start early at 6:30 AM and will be over by 8:45 when you will be brought back to the train. We depart while breakfast is served on-board.
Later at around 10:30 AM the train will reach Agra, where you will take a tour of the Taj, the Agra Fort which was the seat of the powerful Mughals. Later a shopping tour of local Agra markets, followed by dinner at a local restaurant, then you may proceed towards the train to begin your journey towards Delhi.
Day 8 Back at Delhi
This is the day you bid farewell to your chariot, after reaching the Safdarjung Railway station as early as 5:30 AM and post a early sumptuous breakfast you will check out from the Palace on Wheels by 7:15 AM with a bagful of wonderful memories and experiences.
