DAY 1- ARRIVAL AT UTTARKASHI
Upon your arrival at Uttarkashi, our representative will meet and greet you and then assist you in reaching the tent area where you will be staying overnight. On reaching the site, all the trainees are asked to attend the assembly in the conference area to get a brief idea of the training program. You will also be instructed with certain do’s and don’ts and will also be allotted with roll number and tent. There is nothing to do today, so unwind yourself in the cozy tent and go for a relaxing sleep.
DAY 2- UTTARKASHI
Get up early in the morning and get ready to participate in the warm-up session, stretching, yoga, and running. After completing the morning routine, you will be served with scrumptious breakfast which is then followed by a learning session. The instructors would start an introduction session of knot practice, pieces of equipment needed, tent pitching, introduction to ropes. This is what you will be doing on the second day of the training program.
DAY 3- UTTARKASHI
You will be following the same morning schedule that you followed last day i.e. warm-up session, yoga, running, and stretching. After completing these physical activities return to the tent to have your first meal of the day. Post finishing your breakfast you will have to start trekking towards the activity area where you will start practicing anchoring and belaying on the rocks. Next, you will be doing rappelling, rock climbing, bouldering, and jumaring.
DAY 4- UTTARKASHI - NIM VISIT
There will be no change in the morning routine and you will be following the same schedule that you have been following for the last 3 days. After the completion of the morning exercise session, return to the tent and get freshen up before enjoying the healthy breakfast served to you. Post breakfast, you will head towards NIM, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, one of the best mountaineering training institutes in India.
For the first half of the day, you will get the training of wall climbing that includes rope fixing on rock. Later in the evening, another group of instructors would train you for other techniques needed on a mountaineering expedition.
DAY 5- UTTARKASHI – GANGOTRI - BHOJBASA
The 6th day of this training program is going to be very tiring and one needs to be physically as well as mentally fit to stay fit and fresh. Get up early morning and do not forget to take breakfast because you need to feel energized. Today you will be driving towards Gangotri, one of the most revered holy pedestals of Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand.
On reaching the pilgrimage, pay homage to Goddess Ganga and then start covering the trekking trail to Bhojbasa. You will be spending almost 5 hours to reach the camping site and then on reaching there you will be attending the lecture on tent pitching and selection of campsite after considering several aspects of mountainous climate.
DAY 6- BHOJBASA – GAUMUKH - BHOJBASA
Kickstart your day with a fresh morning exercise session of stretching, running, yoga, and warm-up session. You will be served with a delectable morning meal post which, get ready to trek towards Gaumukh glacier for acclimatization. Before it gets dark get back to the camping site and attend a lecture on some mountain terminologies. Enjoy your dinner and then go for a comfy night stay.
DAY 7- BHOJBASA - TAPOVAN
Wake up very early in the morning and start packing your bags as the 9th day of the training is scheduled for trekking to Tapovan, the base camp of Mount Shivling 6543 and Mount Meru. Additionally, you will get to know about Radio Telephony.
DAY 8- TAPOVAN - GLACIER TRAINING
For the entire day, you will be learning the techniques needed for glacier expedition like how to comfortably and safely walk on the glacier, anchoring, and belaying on the ice/snow. You will also be trained for how to use snowshoes, ice axes, use of crampons, ascending, descending, and many more things.
By evening, you will be very tired, so there is no evening schedule and you are all free to rest in your comfy camp. Enjoy the scrumptious dinner and then go for a relaxing sleep.
DAY 9- GLACIER TRAINING
Our training program includes 2 days glacier training schedule, so today also you will follow the same schedule that you followed last day. The entire day is scheduled to learn the tips and techniques needed on glacier expedition including rescue techniques in glacier and self-arrest techniques.
DAY 10- TAPOVAN - BHOJBASA
After finishing the breakfast, start trekking down to Bhojbasa. This is going to be a very arduous trek and by the time it gets dark you will be at the campsite. Take a rest for some time and then get ready for the question and answer session with all the participants. This question and session is then followed by a mood refreshing dinner and relaxing overnight stay.
DAY 11- BHOJBASA - GANGOTRI - UTTARKASHI
Today you are going to live a very tiring yet exciting experience as you will be trekking back to Gangotri. Upon your arrival at Gangotri, you will be driving towards Uttarkashi and your overnight stay is arranged at Shikhar Adventure Academy.
DAY 12- DISTRIBUTION OF CERTIFICATES
On the final day of the training program, you are allowed to sleep more as there is no specific schedule to follow. After waking up, enjoy your last breakfast with us and then go for a de-briefing session with all the participants and instructors. We hope you had a great learning experience with us and you would like to re-live these memories therefore, we organize a photo session on the final day.
